What’s an "Unconference?"

The "unconference" track is a loosely structured event in which you run the show! Rather than pre-arranged sessions, each hour is available for you to propose the topic!

A sign-up grid will be available at the conference. It’s up to the attendees to fill it in, and talk about whatever you want. All time-slots will be 45 minutes long and are available first-come, first-serve, basis.

  • Got a passion or interest? Sign up for a timeslot!
  • Want to gather people with a common problem or from your area? Sign up!
  • Show off a new open source project? Sign up!
  • Want to put together a panel on a topic? Sign up!

The rest is up to you! The session can take any format you want: Present an idea, group participation, panel, demo, you name it!

You don’t need to be an expert in what you present. You only need experience, passion, or curiosity. Show up ready to learn and to help. Make sure to register early for PICC. There are a limited number of slots, and you don’t want to be left out, because everyone else wants to hear about your ideas!

Register for a timeslot at the conference. If you want to discuss a possible topic, email standalone-sysadmin@lopsanj.org. Want to gather people for a panel? Twitter @picconf or ask on the LOPSA conference mailing list.
